What is our story?
Our history
Welcome to the Raymond Mourad Taekwondo Academy, more precisely, welcome to a place that is considered a second home by most of our long-time students. Founded in 1984 by Grand Master Mourad, the Academy has been in the beautiful NDG neighborhood since 1992. Ever since the opening, we have been welcoming all age students with different goals and aspirations. Over the years, many of our students were able to find a healthy lifestyle, discovered a new passion and some were able to compete on the biggest stage around the world – whatever your personal goals, come and meet us and you too, could be part of the Raymond Mourad Taekwondo history.
Grit and determination. Enthusiasm. Indomitable spirit. All these describe Grand Master Raymond Mourad. With more than 45 years of experience in Taekwondo both as an athlete and teacher, Master Mourad teaches the first-year students as he does his senior athletes. He accompanies you through the steps to attain confidence, determination, strength, and assurance. Always present, he spends most of his days at the school. He is available and sincere in his effort to help both mentally and physically.

Master: Stéphane Belisle
25 years ago, I discovered a sport: taekwondo. This sport has become my passion. Since that day, I’ve always loved teaching, helping and volunteering for this sport. In short, what my friend and grand Master Mourad taught me: sharing and perseverance for the sport.

I’ve been practicing taekwondo for about 8 years now and it has been engraved into my life ever since I started. It has taught me discipline and above all else perseverance in the sport and in my everyday life. Once you set yourself a goal you do everything in your power to achieve it.
Elite: Kathie
I’ve been practicing taekwondo for 14 years. The most valuable thing I learned is the extent to which the mind and body are connected. If I don’t train the mind, I won’t have the discipline to train the body. And if I don’t train the body, my mental health inevitably suffers. I can’t always be motivated but I can choose to show up consistently. That’s how growth happens.
Elite: Asma
I have been doing taekwondo since I was 5 years old. The biggest things taekwondo taught me would be perseverance and discipline. These two aspects help me in everyday life.
Elite: Jaden
I’ve been practicing for 11 years. The most valuable thing I’ve learned is self-discipline, integrity, and self respect.
Elite: Rayan
My name is Rayan Omar and I’ve been doing this sport for 14 years. The main thing I learned from this sport is to be patient and to trust my abilities. Over my career, I became 2X National Champion and was part of team Canada & team Quebec.
Elite: Artur
I have been practicing taekwondo for more than 15 years now, over the years I have learned to never give up even if sometimes times are very hard, but to continue until I realize my dream!

A way of life. As a competitor and entrepreneur pushing for the top, this sport has taught me and helped me so much. It taught me that life will try to break you down and that reaching your biggest goals is not always the easiest. Let me tell you a secret; re-adjusting and trying again and again and again is the beauty of our life path. Stay disciplined and consistent in everything you do and one day, you will reach your biggest goals.

Tae Kwon Do isn’t just a sport for me, it’s a way of life.
